General Map Navigation

There are several ways to explore the map using the tools provided.

Default map view - Clicking on this button will bring the map back to its initial full extent.

Zoom In/ Zoom Out - Clicking these buttons changes the zoom level of the map.

Zoom In

•Click the Zoom In button. Refer to the Zoom In/Zoom Out topic.

Zoom In to a specific area by holding down the Shift key while clicking and dragging a rectangle around the area with your mouse.

Draw a new map extent by holding down the Shift key and clicking on the map, dragging the cursor and releasing it to define the new display area.

Zoom Out

Click the Zoom Out button. Refer to the Zoom In/Zoom Out topic.

Zoom Out incrementally by holding Ctrl key and double-clicking on the map.

Draw a new map extent by holding down the Shift and Ctrl keys and clicking on the map, dragging the cursor and releasing it to define the new display area. HINT: The size of the box drawn will be inversely proportional to the distance zoomed out. Draw a large extent to Zoom Out a small amount. Draw a small extent to Zoom Out a large amount. The Zoom Out tool will work for one operation and must be selected again to do subsequent zooms.

Map Orientation (North) - To rotate the map, right-click/hold the mouse and drag the map until the rotation is appropriate.

Pan - To Pan around the map, click and hold the cursor and then drag the map and release.
